Privacy policy — draft

DRAFT — operator details and data flows must be confirmed before launch.

Who we are

HoofMapper is operated by [INSERT LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [INSERT POSTAL CONTACT ADDRESS], [INSERT CONTACT EMAIL]. We are the controller for personal information we collect through our services where applicable.

Information processed

The current prototype allows you to enter a name, email, vehicle details, horses, locations and optional insurance references. These demo profile records are stored in your browser's local storage rather than on a HoofMapper account server. Do not enter real policy numbers or sensitive information. If you choose Use my location, your browser requests your permission and uses coordinates to centre the map and fill the starting point; coordinates may be sent to third-party routing services when you plan a journey. Map tiles and other external services may receive technical information such as your IP address. External retailer websites process their own visitor information.

Purposes and lawful bases

We must identify and document appropriate UK GDPR lawful bases for each processing activity before collecting personal data at scale. Optional marketing requires an appropriate consent process. [COMPLETE WITH VERIFIED PURPOSES, BASES, RECIPIENTS AND RETENTION.]

Storage, sharing and transfers

Local demo information remains in the browser unless you use functions that call external services. We must document providers, international transfers, security, retention periods and any account database before enabling production accounts.

Your rights

Depending on circumstances, you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability. Contact [INSERT CONTACT EMAIL]. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
